Add Phoenix to the list of light rail cities. On Tuesday, March 14th, voters approved on a two-to-one margin a 4/10-cent sales tax for public transportation which includes light rail. It was the third attempt at the referendum in Phoenix. The measure had strong support from the mayor.

Work will begin on purchasing new buses. Sunday service and the revamped "grid" of mile-square buses will begin operate in August.
