Also available, a site that shows the location of ALL LRVs in the system.

Muni's "Central Control"

A manager from a nearby lightrail property
checks out the Breda Controls.

A single point switch used by Muni. Approx. 90% of Muni's switches are this type.
Single point switches were actually designed for lighter weight streetcars.
Use of these switches for LRVS (which are significantly heavier)
have a tendency to cause derailments at speeds over 5-10 MPH.

A Breda LRV lays over at Church and 30th Streets.
Until the early 1990s, this was the end of the
J-Church line; some trains still turn back here.

The main LRV storage yard at Balboa Park station (June 1997).

An inbound J-Church car is about to leave the exclusive
right-of-way through Dolores Park and return to in-street
running (otherwise known as semi exclusive right-of-way) on Church Street.

An outbound N-Judah train on Judah street;
in the distance is an approaching inbound train.

An inbound N-Judah train picks up passengers
at the western end of the line. Next to it is a second
train waiting on the pocket track in the terminal loop.

An outbound M-Ocean View train pulls out of the West Portal
station at the end of the Twin Peaks tunnel, while an L-Taraval
train waits behind it. These two trains were coupled together for
their trip through the Market Street subway and the tunnel, and
have just uncoupled to go their separate ways.
